This website is a science project created for the Space
Day 2005 competition. We
are a
team of 7 homeschoolers in 6th through 8th grade from Chieftain Christian
Academy.

The Eternal Lights
The following is the challenge presented by Space Day for
this project:
Situation
Astronauts are living on the Moon. They're busy conducting experiments,
gathering scientific data, and creating an enjoyable place for humans to
live. What they're doing on the Moon is out-of-this world. Now they need
to let everyone back on Earth know what they're doing.
Action Required
Your students are now a part of a team of astronauts living on the Moon,
and they have been tasked with transmitting information about living on
the Moon back to Earth. Your student teams must create an electronic newspaper
that vividly describes what it's like to live and work on the Moon.

Chris Perdue
I'm in seventh grade and enjoy history and science. I also like working
with my dog, being outside and playing the cello.
I did a lot of research about health in space and wrote the article
on our home page, Staying on the Peak of Health. I really appreciated
the
help I got from Dr. Ronald Merrell of the Medical College of Virginia.
I also helped design and build the website and came up with the ad
idea for the Lunar Cinema.
It was fun to learn about building websites
and
I really enjoyed being in the video where I was two characters: Oscar
M. Hope and Doug Smith.

I'm in the 6th grade. One thing I liked about Space Day was working
on the video. In my free time I play outdoors.
I wrote the article about sports on the moon and I worked a lot on the
website. I drew the cartoon, helped with the design, made
the sports complex ad and helped edit all our photos into these cool
space helmets on this page.
I also co-wrote the script with Grant and was Pablo in the video.
