Sporting Fun on the Moon
By Staff Writer Jacob Ripley
Vault 6 times higher on the moon!
 |
Come
to the moon and play sports with all the comforts of Earth! In the newly
designed Apollo Stadium there is a running track.
There are also facilities for long jump, high jump and pole vaulting.
There is even human flight in this state of the art facility. You will
get your own J.P. (jet pack) and have the chance to fly gracefully
around the stadium. While staying on the moon, exercise is a necessity
and this
is a great place to do it.
On the moon you can jump higher, throw further and still feel like yourself!
To figure out how far you could jump on the moon, measure how far you
jump on the Earth and multiply that by six. The world record for Earth
long jump is 29 feet by Mike Powell. He set the record in a 1991 men’s
track and field competition. On the moon, he would be able to jump 174
feet. If you can jump 10 feet on the Earth, you could jump 60 feet
on the moon.
Space sports are so much fun because they are ordinary and yet extraordinary.
In 1/6th gravity, you can jump higher and farther. Sports are more fun
on the moon for everyone because they are easier to play, and more people
can participate and succeed. So, come on up to the moon; we’ll
have a blast!
